Surgical Tech Training Programs in Florida

According to the Job Occupational Outlook Handbook for 2010-2011, the jobs for Surgical Technologists is to grow much faster than average. The best job opportunities will be for certified technologists that are willing to relocate.

HOW MUCH TRAINING IS NEEDED?
The training programs last anywhere from 9 to 24 months and lead to a certificate, diploma, or associate’s degree.

Hospitals will continue to be the primary employer, although much faster employment growth is expected in other healthcare industries.

EARNINGS/WAGES OF A SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST
According to the Job Occupational Outlook Handbook the median annual wages of wage-and-salry surgical technologists were $38,740 in May 2008. The middle 50 percent earned between $32,490 and $46,910. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $27,510, and the highest 10 percent earned more than $54,300. Median annual wages in the industries employing the largest percentage of surgical tecnologists are in the following locations:
1. Specialty hospitals (except psych and substance abuse.)
2. Outpatient care centers
3. General medical and surgical hospitals
4. Offices of physicians
5. Offices of dentists
